The enclosed compilation delivers 28 recordings - many popularised during the late 1970s Rockabilly revival - from which The Stray Cats have since covered, adapted and borrowed; the foundation of /Cat Class/ and /Cat Style/ from their first thirteen years.

Wayne Walker - How Do You Think I Feel?

Wayne Walker will forever be known as a highly-successful songwriter in the country and pop fields during the 1950s and 1960s. Since his death in the late 1970s, however, he became something of a rockabilly hero in Europe with such obscure recordings as “All I Can Do Is Cry”, “Love Me”, “Bo-Bo Ska Diddle Daddle”, “You’ve Got Me” and “Little Ole You” which have kept the dance floors of the many rock ‘n’ roll clubs filled. Strangely, those thirty-odd years that have since elapsed have never seen a complete Wayne Walker reissue…until now! This is Wayne Walker – The singer and his songs.

Brioles - Love, Rhythm, Hate

BRIOLES was formed in 1986 (their first live gig took place on the 8th of August 1987) and they haven’t stopped playing ever since. A few drummer changes, several collaborations in different groups and projects (The Rockin’ Roosters, Bop Pills, Ella & the Roosters, Nu-Niles, The Swindlers...) haven’t made the Nunes brothers (Jorge and Daniel) loose their interest in their main project. BRIOLES’ music is mainly based on 50’s R&R but they’ve added more exciting elements....

Real Cool Cats - Texas Rockabilly 1955

"T for Texas - T for Tennessee" sang Jimmie Rodgers in 1928, setting the seal on two of the most important states involved in the growth of Country music in the years thereafter. By extension, the development of country rock 'n' roll - rockabilly - in the early and mid 1950s was strongest in those areas, but Memphis-based Sun Records blazed brightly early in the game, casting the exciting Cat Music of the Lone Star State in a deep shadow...
8 page booklet with interesting liner notes and pictures.

El Toro Records now presents a second helping of jumping R&B from the late 1940’s and early 1950’s, all of which exhort the listener to “Rock! Rock! Rock!” or, in a few instances, to “Roll Roll! Roll!” long before the official birth of Rock and Roll in 1954. From an obscurity like the misterious Manhattan Paul to the internationally renowned Sammy Davis Jr. taking in famous songwriters and session musicians alike. They can all lay claim to be rockers before uncle Bill and daddy Elvis...

Trailer Park Casanovas - So Charmin'

Maybe you picked up this CD thinking you were into the White Trash sound. Maybe you thought that this was another joke "country meets rockabilly" band. You were wrong. This is not Lolita at the Dairy Queen, this is not Hee Haw for the Silverlake set. This is Nashville by way of Santa Ana, this is Graceland meets Pico Rivera, this is Los Angeles punk rock married to Elvis Presley and jacked up on more crystal meth and Crow than anyone can imagine. This is the Trailer Park Casanovas. And it's So Charmin'.

Various Artists - Got Them Hillbilly Blues

While it is not often documented, it stands to reason that of all the many black artists who were influenced by country music radio in their childhood, a percentage would grow into maturity with a real feeling for hillbilly music and incorporate the style it into their own musical heritage, just as the white rockabillies introduced an urban blues element into their country music. This album has been compiled to showcase this inverted spin on the conception of rockabilly - got them Hill Billy Blues?

CD PRICE: £9.99

Hot Lips Page - Roll Roll Roll!

Beginning his promising rise to national fame in the late 1930s as a rival to that other trumpet-playing, gravel-voiced entertainer, Louis Armstrong, Hot Lips Page changed tack, jumping with both feet in the direction of the burgeoning R&B sound in the mid 1940s. It was a move that was sure to offend all the serious jazz music fans, but it would endear him to all the low-brow jump-blues lovers – both then and now! This CD celebrates those R&B years of the man who could have been King…

CD PRICE: £9.99

Rollin' The Rock - Texas Rockabilly Vol.2

Following on from our well-received Texas Rockabilly compilation “Real Cool Cats” (ETCD 1010) in 2006, El Toro Records now brings you another volume of Lone Star Bop. This time spotlighting the obscure Texas-born or raised recording artists that were elevated to star status in the 1970s when their all-but-forgotten careers were revived by a tiny, home-based, Californian record company run by a rock’n’roll-crazy Italian called Rockin’ Ronny Weiser.

CD PRICE: £9.99

The Aces - No One Rides For Free

Formed in 2000, The Aces have attitude and a different idea of how to play Blues. They reduce the Blues to pounding riffs and a distorted wall of sound topped by wailing harp. They were among the first to absorb and recast the drone riff-based Hill Country Blues style, and The Aces do that their own way. They write their own songs (they do very few covers). They have their own slicked back greased hair in a wind tunnel look attached to a permanent sneer and a pushy stage presence. Those that might think of punk trance blues as something endlessly repeating a melodic line are in for a rhythmic pounding when the Aces get on stage.
CD PRICE: £9.99

Brand new recordings from one of the wildest rockers to record for the legendary Sun label in Memphis. He and his band the Pacers came out of Newport, Arkansas, with a hard-rocking style that, unlike that of most rockabillies, owed little to nothing in the way of a stylistic debt to country music.

CD PRICE: £9.99

Various Artists - Wellcome Back To Town
Considered a disposable fad - and thus unworthy of expensive recording resources - by the concert promoters and radio executives of the day, live R&B, and its immediate predecessor jump blues, was only occasionally captured for posterity and only then, usually, because of its accidental inclusion in a larger program of "more laudable music" such as jazz. Which makes the enclosed two dozen rarities all the more welcome; whether taken from a live concert performance or a radio transcription, there is something magical and exciting about these little slices of musical time-travel. Fasten your safety belts!
