The Accelerators (UK)
Let's Turn It Up
© The Accelerators 2010

Steve Smith (Lead singer/rhythm guitar/backing vocals)
Dave Burnette (Lead & Rhythm Guitar/backing vocals)
Marty Cassidy (Drums)
Steve Cunningham (Double Bass)

The Accelerators fourth release, the first one to date that the band have put out independantly. Once again they have managed to serve up a cocktail of Rockin' classics, encompassing all the genres of 50s music. There's something for everybody here, from foot stomping rock n roll, hard hitting rockabilly, the melodic grace of doowop and some real smokin' R & B thrown in for good measure.
The twelve gems on this CD are made up of six Steve Smith originals and six classic covers.
The Accelerators belong to that exclusive group of artists defined not by whom they sound like but by their music, which in the case of the Accelerators takes off with a life of it's own.

The Accelerators have always been a band that lived and played live music. The band - originally called Big Al and the Meerkats - began in the mid '90s on the city of Dundee's respected music scene. The original foursome began playing marathon sets in bars, aswell as Rock 'n' Roll clubs and festivals up and down the country.
At this time, Steve Smith had accumulated a collection of original songs which were catching the public's attention. They were no sooner recorded, when they were quickly signed by Raucous Records who released three of the band's highly acclaimed albums. The first being Right Behind You Baby, followed by Pedal To The Metal and Go Baby Go. The line-up now consists of Steve Smith, Dave Burnette, Marty Cassidy and Steve Cunningham and with the release of their fourth - and what they believe to be their best - album Let's Turn It Up, this is sure to guarantee them a whole new legion of fans.
The Accelerators are still happy to play in the original venues that served them so well in their early days - so don't be surprised if you see them down your local this saturday!
